The tango as a dance began in the Parque Patricios, located in the southern section of Buenos Aires, around the year 1880. According to the writer Ernesto Sábato, the tango is "the most authentic cultural product of the Argentines." If Carlos Gardel is truly the soul of the tango, Astor Piazzolla, Mariano Mores, Aníbal Troilo, and Juan De Dios Filiberto, among others, immortalized him even more.

What began as a prohibited form of music for its large amount of sensuality and passion continues today as the "porteño" stamp.
